Standard APR Racking
This type of pallet racking can be easily adjusted to accommodate different pallet sizes and weights. This allows the user to customize the pallet rack to their specific needs. Another advantage of adjustable pallet racking is that it can be easily reconfigured if the storage requirements change. Adjustable pallet racks are also available in a variety of heights, widths, and depths to meet any storage need. Standard pallet racking is ideal when a large number of SKUs or products are to be stored in the warehouse.
Narrow Aisle Racking
Narrow aisle racking is a type of pallet racking that is designed for use in areas with limited space. As the name suggests, Narrow aisle racking uses aisles that are narrower than those used in traditional pallet racking. This allows for more pallets to be stored in the same amount of space, making it ideal for warehouses and other storage facilities that are short on space.
Drive In / Drive Through Racking
Drive In / Drive Through Racking is a pallet racking system that allows pallets to be stored multiple rows deep. This system is ideal for those who need to store a large number of pallets in a small space. Drive In / Drive Through racking is the most cost-effective of the high-density racking systems available. Only 1 product type per bay is possible. Drive Through racking is a FIFO system (First in First out), and Drive In is a LIFO system (Last In First Out).
Flow pallet racking is a type of pallet racking that is designed to promote the efficient and effective storage and movement of pallets through a warehouse or storage facility. Unlike traditional pallet racking, which relies on manual labour to move pallets from one location to another, flow pallet racking uses a bed of rollers to automatically move pallets from the entry point to the exit point of the rack. This allows for a much more efficient storage and retrieval system, as well as reducing the amount of time and labour required to move pallets around the facility. This system is ideal for stock that requires rotation as it is a FIFO system. The system is suitable for where a large number of pallets of the same product are stored, as each lane is dedicated to 1 product. The maximum lane depth of 20 – 25 pallets per lane is possible.
Push Back Racking
There are 2 types of Pushback systems available; a roller bed system and a cart system. The carts or pallets are pushed back into the system as new pallets are added, which allows for more efficient use of space, compared to standard APR racking. Standard push back systems can be 5-6 pallets deep. Pushback racking is a First in Last out system. An advantage of Pushback Racking over drive-in racking is that the forklift doesn’t have to drive into the racking systems, making putaway and retrieval of pallets easier, faster and safer.
Powered Mobile Racking
Powered mobile racking is a warehouse storage solution that helps to improve space utilization and efficiency. The racks are mounted on wheels and can be moved around by a motorized system. This allows for a more dense storage configuration, as the racks can be moved together when not in use. This system is ideal for cold storage environments where space in the fridge or freezer must be optimised to reduce running costs. This system can also accommodate 1 SKU per position, so ideal where there is a high SKU count.
Cantilever racks are a type of warehouse storage system that is typically used for storing long or bulky items of various lengths e.g. pipes. Cantilever racks can be either single-sided or double-sided. The storage arms of the cantilever rack can have decking if required. Various decking options are available, including steel floor planks and mentis grating.
